Top 7 Smartphone Rookie Mistakes You Make Every Day!

Last Updated on March 22, 2021

Smartphones were unthinkable a few years ago and the truth is that no one can live without them today. Whether to help you at work, to monitor your smart home’s equipment, to entertain, or to communicate with others (sometimes we even forget that it’s their primary purpose). Smartphones are kind of like our best friends that are always there with us. However, there are some mistakes (rookie mistakes that can even endanger your health) that you may be making when using your smartphone. Continue reading to find out all about these mistakes and avoid them from now on.

    1. Sleeping next to your smartphone

Many people have the habit of lying down with their smartphones to relax and distract their minds at the end of a tiring day at work. However, problems may arise when you don’t know when to ditch your smartphone. Instead, you just keep it in bed with you which is a big mistake. That is because smartphones emit radio waves (smartphones are equipped with a transmitter and an electromagnetic receiver for this purpose) which can negatively affect brain function. This theory has not been scientifically proven, but the truth is that we are all exposed to these radio waves — especially when we are sleeping, so we should not risk our own health. That is why the device should not be by your side in bed and you should start sleeping with your smartphone off. If you can’t turn it off, put it in another room or in a drawer. That way, you’ll be safer and have a great night’s sleep.

    2. Sitting in bad posture while using your smartphone

Nowadays we spend so much time looking at smartphone screens and we don’t even realize what we’re doing wrong. So, we end up looking like giraffes with their necks hung low while focusing on a particular object, hence developing bad body posture, also known as “text neck!” This position is very bad for the health of your spine because tilting your neck forward and getting a better view of your smartphone screen will put greater weight and increased pressure on the cervical area. It is recommended that you always keep your smartphone at eye level so that your spine is always kept straight.
