5 Evolutionary Aspects Of 5G: Is It Really Secure?

Last Updated on March 25, 2021

The evolution of wireless connection technologies is updated by the minute, and today, 5G is already working in different parts of the US and the world and considered to be one of the biggest technology shifts in the human history. This development will not only cover the speed but also the protection of the user’s privacy and the security of their data from all aspects and on all devices; mobile phones, smart electronics, autonomous cars, drones, IoT devices, and other devices developed every day to carry and support the new implications of 5G. But how fast are we talking here? And would it be really secure?

    1. Let’s talk speed:

Here is a fact: 100x faster! No, that is not a typo. 5G is 100 times faster than 4G. The typical peak of 4G is of 0.1GB per second only, while 5G can reach 10GB per second! Also, the 5G latency is lower; it takes round-trip data transmission less than 5 milliseconds to clock in. Why is this great? Because it assures the real-time interactivity of devices that use the cloud for services and reactions. For example, the self-driving car will now react much faster to you and to the other factors surrounding it that call for its immediate interaction. 5G also offers less congestion. This new wireless technology can support up to 1 million devices per square kilometer and bigger bandwidth since we can transmit more data through it thanks to its smooth handling of usage spikes. The newly developed wireless connection is faster because its networks are now using shorter frequencies: the millimeter waves between 30GHz and 300GHz). The speed, capacity, and quality are all boosted thanks to the high-band 5G spectrum. On another level, 5G-connected devices do not require much human assistance, as the 5th generation is all about low power consumption. Hence, the machines can operate for long periods all by themselves.

    2. Let’s talk security:

Major security developments are coming along with the 5th generation, namely the anti-tracking features as well as spoofing one. Options that make it hard for anyone to manipulate or follow personal device connections.
