7 hidden Apple Watch features you need to know about

Last Updated on December 10, 2020

The smartwatch industry has been steadily growing over the past few years. The boom occurred after tech giants like Apple and Amazon entered the market – with their innovation and sleek design, smartwatches became much more useful and appealing to the public. First released in 2015, the Apple Watch is a fairly recent product that has been regularly modernized since then. Not only new models were released (the product is already in its Series 5), but its operating system watchOS has also received several updates throughout these years. Considering all this, it is normal that many of its new features remain unknown to a large part of the public, or even to new users. The Apple Watch price might be considered high, sure, but it really is an amazing product, especially if you are an iPhone user and you are already inside the Apple ecosystem. These are some of the most impressive and cool Apple Watch features. Even if you are an experienced user, make sure to check them because there’s a chance you aren’t taking advantage of them all.

    1. Theater mode

Nobody wants their watch to be lightening up every minute during an important meeting or while at the movie theater. It can be pretty annoying for everyone in the room. Apple thought about that and allowed its users to quickly deactivate lightening effects and audio notifications (silent mode). Swipe up from the control center and tap on the double mask icon. You will then be able to read a “Cinema Mode: On” popup notification. That means you are good to go. No more annoying notifications while you are in dark and silent environments. Alternatively, you can use another cool feature called “cover to mute”. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, select “Sound & Haptics”, enable the “Cover to Mute” feature. This way, you can place your hand over the display for three seconds to mute your device.

    2. Quickly clear all notifications

Depending on the way you manage your notifications, they can quickly add up, and no one likes to clear them one by one. Here’s a quick way to clear all notifications at once: Swipe to open the notifications screen; Press and hold; Tap the “X” clear all button that appears on the screen. Having too many notifications in your Apple Watch is overwhelming and defeats its purpose because an important one might get lost in there. We encourage you to disable notifications from all the apps that you don’t consider important for your daily routine.
