6. Improve phone security
Given the number of important tasks we perform via smartphone and the sensitive information we keep there, this device needs to be quite secure. And it truly is. Face ID, fingerprint ID, the old school pin code (or pattern), two-factor authentication. All these features contribute to making us completely trust this device. But what if some thief manages to steal your phone before it locks? Think about all the things he can access: email, photos, personal files, social media accounts. That’s why you need to set a reasonable screen timeout window. It is the amount of time it takes for your phone to lock itself without any screen input. We do not recommend having this option set to values above two minutes. Since most modern smartphones have face unlock, you can even set it to just a few seconds as you don’t waste any time unlocking it.
