7. Reachability
The screen size of smartphones has increased considerably over the last few years. As a result, people with small hands now struggle to use the larger iPhone models with just one hand. With these people in mind, Apple introduced a feature that brings everything on the screen closer to the bottom half. To enable it, open your iPhone’s Settings, tap Accessibility – Touch, and turn on Reachability. Now all you have to do is swipe down on the bottom edge of the screen, and everything gets within your fingers reach instantly. Additional tip: there’s a similar feature for your keyboard! If you tap and hold the emoji button, you can then place all the characters closer to your right or left hand. This makes writing messages with only one hand much easier.
8. Teach Siri how to pronounce names correctly
Using Siri to call or text your loved ones is extremely handy. But sometimes Siri may have some difficulties interpreting certain names’ pronunciation, especially the less common ones. Luckily, Siri is a fast learner. Let’s imagine you want to teach Siri how to pronounce your friend Arantxa Sinead’s name. All you have to do is pick up your smartphone and say: “Hey Siri, show me A-R-A-N-T-X-A (spell it) contact.” Siri will ask you if you meant Arantxa. Say “Yes,” and Siri will show you Arantxa’s contact information and mispronounce her name once again. After that, say, “You pronounced it wrong.” Siri will then ask you how to pronounce the name correctly. Tell Siri the right pronunciation and follow her next steps.
